The former District Court in Tiel is a free-standing building in an eclectic-classical style dating from 1880. The building was designed by Johan F. Metzelaar. The main entrance on the northern aspect of the building is formed by a wide staircase and a portico consisting of three arches supported by Tuscan columns. The interior of the courtroom is well preserved and richly painted with stencil motifs. In 1996 the building was renovated by architect Otto van Dijk. The property is located in the centre of Tiel.
